Today we will learn virtually what quadrilaterals are, quadrilateral shapes, types of quadrilateral etc. So let's beginning.
QUADRILATERALS are 2D shapes that are a type of polygon with 4 sides and 4 angles.
The sum of all interior angles of a quadrilateral is 360 degrees.
(QUAD means iv, LATERALS means side)
There are Vi basic types of quadrilaterals:
- Parallelogram
- Rectangle
- Rhombus
- Square
- Trapezoid / Trapezium
- Kite
A polygon is a shape with AT LEAST 3 sides with NO curves and NO open sides.
Parallel means that lines go in the aforementioned direction and NEVER intersect/meet together.
- Opposite sides are parallel and equal.
- Reverse angles are equal.
- Diagonals bifurcate each other.
- Opposite sides are parallel and equal.
- All angles are 90º.
- The diagonals bisect each other.
- All sides are equal and opposite sides are parallel.
- Reverse angles are equal.
- The diagonals bifurcate each other at right angles.
- Opposite sides are parallel and all sides are equal.
- All angles are 90º.
- Diagonals bifurcate each other at right angles.
A trapezoid is a quadrilateral with EXACTLY One PAIR of parallel sides. Sides practise Not accept to exist equal in length.
Isosceles trapezoid: A trapezoid in which the nonparallel sides (the legs) are coinciding.
FUN FACT : Trapezoid defination are dissimilar for different people. Some people say that a trapezoid has AT Least ONE PAIR of parallel sides instead of EXACTLY One PAIR of parallel sides.
- Two pairs of adjacent sides are equal.
- One pair of opposite angles is equal.
- Diagonals intersect at correct angles.
- The longest diagonal bisects the shortest diagonal into 2 equal parts.
